Hello guys. I hope you can help me with this problem.
So me and my wife will renew our visa this year as our visa expires on the 30th of july 2013. I currently have a tier 2 visa since 2010 and i managed to get my wife as my dependant last march 2012. Now during her application as my dependant, she still used her maiden name and not her married name. So all throughout her stay in UK from march 2012 til now, she has been using her maiden name. (Her passport and dependant visa shows her maiden name) I am not sure if that is quite clear for you guys already but my question is, now that we are about to renew our visas. Does she need to have her surname changed to my surname before we renew our visas or is it ok that we renew our visas and we have different surnames given that we have a marriage certificate anyway? Or is the ukba quite strict about this and will they require us to have the same surnames?

If she needs to change her surname, how does she needs to do this? Is it just her name in the passport she needs to change or does she still needs to change her surname too in her first uk visa prior to renewal?

The surname won't matter! Many people who are married never change their surnames and the UKBA accepts that as well.

Thank you for the kind reply kuya. Another question if you dont mind. how many months before our visas will expire can we already renew them? I am planning to apply through peo personal apperance thus i am just thinking as to when could i start monitoring the website (login before 12midnight trick) and try to book slots online via ukba. Thanks
