Hello everyone, I'm new on here so apologies if I read as helpless but would really appreciate the help:

Do I need a visa to visit the Phils for 2 weeks?

I'm flying to Manila 17 December hoping to get an affidavit then fly onto Cebu for 2 weeks and then return to London via Manila.

Looking to marry in April (Easter).

I've worked out (belatedly) its cheaper to fly from London to Manila at this time of the year and then onto Cebu. I managed to get a relatively cheap ticket today.

Can I get a flight from Manila whilst in Manila at that time of the year? Any recommended airlines that are cheap? Or should I book here in London but that than creates pressure on getting an affidavit from the UK Embassy (haven't done any research on that yet)...

    A big thank you Matisse

Not if you hold a British/EU/US Passport. You will be granted leave to visit for 28 days on arrival at Manila Airport.

You'll need to make an appointment with the Embassy well in advance. You should book into a hotel somewhere between the airport and Taguig City (wherein lies the Embassy) where you may can deposit your belongings. You will only be allowed to take the documents into the compound - no bags, no cellphones etc.

You can but it will be more expensive - the carriers continuously increase their fares as the departure time approaches. You will have a fixed appointment with the Embassy so can book your flights sooner rather than later. As you will undoubtedly have baggage, I'd book with Philippine Airlines rather than Cebu Pacific or any other as you will have a reasonable baggage allowance included in the ticket price (and it is much cheaper to prepay additional baggage allowance if needed than pay at the airport).

    Hi @matisse,
You don't need visa to visit the Philippines, so long as you don't stay more than 28 days, if you stay longer that that you will have to get an extension while you are there.
I think its best to book from here for your onward flight as it will be busy time of year with Filipinos flying home home for the Christmas and new year with families. Fares are quite reasonable on either Cebu Pacific or with Philippine airlines both flying from NAIA direct to Cebu.
It's my understanding you have to book appointment with the embassy to get your affidavit, as yet I have no experience with that but I'm sure others here will give you better advice on that.

Welcome to the forum. I don't have anything to add to the above replies but I have to ask, of you're asking this question this means that you've never travelled to the Philippines before. Thave indicates to me that you're contemplating marrying a woman that you haven't yet met. Apart from the common sense view that this is unwise, I feel that you may encounter some problems at the Town Hall or any seminar when you admit that you are applying to marry on your first meeting...

Hi I mentioned in my OP that we have met twice in Cyprus whilst she was working there - apparently she has kept a record of our texting going back to 2014... but I can't rely on that as she hasn't checked and its on her old phone - thanks for the advice. M

ah OK well ignore that then. You may be surprised to hear that I've seen posts before from people intending to marry without meeting. No slight intended. :

    Hi John
Thats a really good price. Thats exactly the routing I will be looking for when my family come from UK to visit my wife and I who will be living in Davao next year.

    Hi DavidAlma
The best thing to do is plan ahead a few months checking everyday on skyscanner i just went on singapore airlines website and they are not taking bookings on the day i fly out which is unusual as every airline overbooks.
