On another thread I posted about the unlocked refurbished Samsung Galaxy Apollo that e2save are selling for £35 (plus £10 SIM card)

Well, e2save have another great offer for anyone needing heavy internet usage on their phone but few phone calls. They are offering the TalkMobile unlimited internet contract...

    http://www.e2save.com/mobile-phone/...tml?network=talk+mobile&tariffcode=ETU12APR12

This contract is £12/month, reducing to £2.50/month after cashback. It is a two year deal.

Of course, the Samsung C3050 is not a phone you would use if you were a heavy internet phone user, so get the aforementioned Samsung Galaxy Apollo @ £45 including the £10 PAYG SIM. Stick the PAYG SIM in the C3050 and the contract unlimited internet SIM in the Apollo.

    Here are the numbers...

    Samsung Galaxy Apollo (refurbished)................£35
PAYG SIM card (with £10 credit).....................£10
Unlimited internet 50 mins 200 texts................£60 (after cashback) and includes free Samsung C3050)

That is a total outlay of £105 over 24 months (£4.38/month)

It is best to use those precious 50 minutes on calling UK mobiles and then install a VOIP APP (such as Poivy) for calls to UK landlines and overseas calls. Poivy will also give you cheaper calls to the Philippines than any specialist SIM card at 9.3p/min (to PH mobiles) and 7.5p/min (PH landlines).

I realise that such an offer may not suit those who use their mobile a lot for calls, but it suits me just fine!

Looks like a pretty good deal.. Like you said, depending on the user.

Dom might like a deal like that:erm:

A VOIP APP would also suit you, Kuya, for calling to the Philippines. I have just found an even cheaper Android VOIP APP...

    http://www.voipyo.com/rates

Just 4.7p/min to PH landlines and 5.6p/min to PH mobiles and NO call connection fee! The prices include VAT!!!

If you have a laptop that will take a SIM card and you have a requirement outside of a wi-fi hotspot, you could use the talkmobile SIM for unlimited internet access outside of the home!

I see see nothing in the Terms & Conditions that would prevent this. The T&Cs talk in terms of only introducing a 'Fair Use Policy' if you own usage would impinge on other users.

Thanks a lot for that, Howerd.
I have installed the app on my iPhone 4 and will try it soon :like:

If you find it works OK, then I will switch from using Poivy when my credit runs out.

I perhaps should have said, that Voipyo has apps for the iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Nokia (Symbian) and Windows phones. You can SMS to Philippines too at just 2.8p (inc. VAT)

Unfortunately, there is no Windows desktop version, which is where I prefer to send my SMS from.

I've noticed mobile networks are introducing cheaper monthly tariffs, especially the SIM only offerings. Orange offer a £7 a month SIM only to include 150mins, 500 text and 250mb internet. My O2 £24 100mb plan seems pathetic when compared to other providers. I'm stuck with the contract for another 12 months, but will most likely move to something better value when the time comes.
