Hi everyone, Last year my children 17, 15 and 13 arrived in the UK under Indefinite Leave to Enter. My oldest son will be 18 this year, and I am planning on applying for his citizenship before he turns 18. Are my kids eligible to apply for citizenship now? And there might be someone here who is in the same situation. Please share your thoughts. Thank you.
If you are the children's parent and YOU are a British Citizen aren't they already entitled to British Citizenship? Or are the children your Filipina wife's children that you've brought over?
Hi, Thank you for your comment. I am the mother and the sponsor when i apply for their settlement visa. I had my British citizenship 5 years ago, so they are only allowed to get Indefinite Leave to enter the UK.
As you are settled and they are on ILR they must of been living here for a minimum of 1 year before they apply for BC. Age is not a barrier
this is another example of waiting for the parent to get ILR /citizenship before applying for the kids--who then go straight to ILE--thereby saving a fortune in repeat visa fees.
Yes, my kids are on ILR when they arrive in UK. I’m not sure though if they’re eligible to apply for British citizenship now.
As said in previous post if they have been on ILR for 12 months they are entitled to apply for BC. We did it successfully for my wife’s daughter Wife arrived 2015 Daughter arrived 2017 Wife got ILR daughter caught her up after 1st visa both on ILR Wife applied straight away as married to a Brit daughter waited 12 months
We did it too, many do it! I blame the system not the applicant. It’s good that at last the UKGOV are tightening up on it. Next with a bit of luck will be the NHS tourists.
