When you go to the registrar in the town or city to register you can ask for an accelerated NSO registration very cheap cant remember exactly how long ours took.

This is what we are hoping to ask for, and more importantly get quickly.

Married now as of the 14th of July. We have been told that we can collect our marriage contract on the 23rd of July, this is not the one from NSO we have asked for an expressed one and will again ask when we pick up the one from the local office.
I know that we need to get it translated into Spanish for the Shengen visa, does it also need to be legalized and if so by who / where this also applies to where do we get it translated.
    We are in Manila.
FYI the marriage ceremony was a group of 32 couples getting married on the same day !
I enjoyed the whole experience of taking part in a very different wedding ceremony.
Being one of only two foreigners marrying a Filipina, the other guy was from Syria.
The pastor and the mayor alternated between Tagalo and English, although my wife translated as quickly as possible to me.
    Great fun all round.

Collected today 23rd of July our marriage certificate from the civil register in municipality where we got married last week.
Paid 200 pesos for for something or other plus 145 pesos for a letter of instruction to NSO to be sent via LBC ( DHL ) on Monday we go to the NSO to submit our application form for their version of our marriage certificate.
We have been told this could take three weeks to four weeks.
    Wait lang !

    Hi Duncan,

Congratulations on marrying your Filipina bride.

For us, the NSO marriage certificate took so long too arrive and it was the most frustrating time for my wife and I.
Unless they have improved processing time, be prepared for a long wait

Up early Monday morning and at the NSO building for 06.30 ,they open at 7 am.
We were out of there by 7.30 ordered three copies of our marriage certificate, cost per copy 140 pesos.
And no surprise they did not have any change of a 1000 peso note.
We have been told that the copies will be ready for collection on the 8th of August.
    Two weeks. .
This was in the Manila main NSO office.
Next step will be getting one of the certificates authorised at the DFA office, which we have been told can be done in a day.
Lets hope so,but I have come to learn not to hold ones breath.

I made an error on the date for collection its the 11th of the 8th month
perhaps I should have got as many copies as I could for the 1000 peso note.
