A lady has joined our workforce today and she is from one of the 'stan countries from the old soviet block. She is here on a spouse visa and will be applying for ILR in December this year.

What is amazing is that she came to the Isle of Man to take her English Language test on a visitor visa, sat the test only to find it was the Life in the UK test and passed it!

She had to make another trip to take the english language test that she didnt sit, that she should have sat, the first time, before finally succesfully gaining her spouse visa.

Another significant thing is that according to her countries laws she cannot have duel citizenship. Its either UK citizenship or her countries citizenship. She cant have both.

    Amazing! :boing:
I did not take Life in UK test because I have an ESOL with citizenship. :)
Didn't even bother to find out about the damn Life in UK test, because most of the people I know are failing it not just once, :erm:
I was studying Business Administration at the time I was in process of my ILR,
so I couldn't find a time to read the damn book!

Yes. I know of many who fail it. Older folk find it hard.
