Hi, I am planning to visit England with my 8yr old son. I understand that I have to make 2 applications 1 for him and 1 for me.

Does anybody know on which application I submit the documents to the vfs.

Is it my son application or mine? Or does the applications gets submitted together with the documents.

Hi , I'm not sure if you need to make two separate applications . From memory , on the application form they ask if you have children , and if they will be travelling with you , so I think that will be part of the same application .

I'm sure others will correct that info if it's wrong .

If it's just a short visit / vacation ,it will be the standard visit visa .
    It's your application .

Quick question, the visitor visa has a box asking for Dependant Children and then details. I am guessing that if they are not travelling this can be ignored?

We filled this in , giving all details of my gf young son ,plus copy of birth certificate , and letter stating who would be caring for him during my gf visit here (her sister )

Also brief letter written by gf sister , confirming that she was happy to take care of her sisters son , and signed .
Also included sisters contact details , ( e mail and phone number )

I would fill it in, it only becomes irrelevant if the application asks are they traveling with the visitor!

It does ask for their travel documents then and the next question specifically asks about non dependant children travelling.

It means thety have been witnessed by a recognised independant person and they have signed them. For example a copy of your passport or birth certificate. A solicitor will sign the photocopy stating they have seen the original and the copy is a true copy of that.

We did a marriage visa (now have to do spouse visa when we return to the philippines) and also got visit visa's for both of her son's.

Provided a combination of original documents for her and her sons and photo copies mostly for my documents although did have a public notary copy of my passport and driving license that I had done recently for a first Irish Passport Application and also provided original birth certificate.

Not sure if we were lucky but got very quick turnaround on visa application.

Initial plan was to leave the oldest boy in the philippines as we had problems getting a passport so original application was for fiance and youngest son with evidence of ties to philppines being the rented house, and fact that oldest boy was staying.

We sorted out the passport issue and as original visa application came back quickly decided to input a visa application for the oldest boy as I was never keen on leaving him anyway - to big a worry if anything happended - and asked for a visa for him detailing that as one of the reasons why along with the view of my sister and one of my friends who knew all of us that could not leave him (my mate supplied a letter of support saying that). Got a visa for him as well and manged to get him on the same flights as the rest of us.

Ties to philippines will be the big issue for getting the visa for both of you - was a big worry for me although other reasons I had for the trip was (a) to get married as more convienent to do in UK (b) see what it was like - they arrived to the snow we had earlier in the year (c) think about my backup plan of ireland as a base (my parents are still there in the North close to the border.

We did a dress rehersal for a full application with six months of copies of bank statements and payslips and evidence of relationship including baptism certificate for the youngest with me as sponsor and death certificate for the oldest child's father (youngest has no name on birth certificate) so that may have made things easier.

Best of luck with application - I had a positive experience although I do wonder in hindsight if it was luck or a well prepared pack (about an inch thick in the end)

Success!!!! I managed to get a visa approved I did however needed to fill out on application for my 8 yr old son.

I was advised to put a note on my son's visa application saying all original documents are with my application As we would be travelling together.
