While your fiancé is on her fiancé visa can she apply for the Spouse visa before we are married or do you have to get the marriage document first, I presume the Spouse visa will ask for the marriage document.

Does anyone know how long it takes before you receive your marriage certificate after being married? If i was to get married 2 weeks before the fiance visa ran out would that make it a bit tight?

To answer your first question, you need to submit the Marriage Certificate with the FLR application.

We got married in a Register Office and from memory we received the Marriage Certificate within a couple of weeks - we may even have been given a copy on the day, I simply can't remember! You can also order 'extra' copies of your Certificate, which is cheaper than getting copies later, should you need to send a copy to anyone for other purposes - proof of marriage, change of name, etc.

I was under the impression that part of the requirement to get a fiancé visa is that you have the marriage in UK all sorted and arranged within the 6 month period and you have to provide evidence of it ? This enables you to then get the spouse visa and your wife doesn’t have to leave the UK.

I decided it was easier for us to get married in the Philippines. I had a months holiday, basically for the price of the fiancé visa and everything was pretty smooth, but the only drawback was she had to wait in the Philippines afterwards until I got her spouse visa. The time span for that was, I left Filo 24 Feb, application etc done and her biometric completed in Manila on 23 Mar. She flew to UK 27 May, so not too long a wait

Yes, you may quickly receive a certificate of marriage from the registrar in the locality where you were married, but the one required by the British government is the 'national' PSA of the Philippines issued one, which might take a few weeks to come through. Need to check on that.

I have just found that the one issued on the day is OK for the application for spouse visa here in the UK, it wasn’t questioned. But yes, we got a PSA copy as soon as we could because CFO state they want a PSA copy.

it can take 2-6 months before it is registered with PSA. In true Philippine fashion my wife was approached outside the PSA offices by a women employee, after being told our certificate was not yet registered, who took a payment to get it done quickly for us !
