    Hello!

Today, I have started filling out the online application forms for me and my son. As I understood it, he has a separate application form and I have to fill this out as if I am him.
I found it very confusing as they didn't limit the questions for an infant. Below are some parts that I can't fill out. Anyone who has done the same thing before or has idea how to properly do this? I would greatly appreciate an assistance. :)

    SITUATION:
My 1 year-old dependent is travelling and settling with us through my fiancée visa in December. He is my illegitimate son with UNKNOWN father as stated in the birth certificate.
Fiancée is currently in Japan for work that will end in December so we will all fly to UK in December.

    1. VISA TYPE: I can't find any other applicable type.
    1.jpg

    2. PERSONAL DETAILS. Why is this part required for an infant's application?
    2.jpg

    3. FAMILY DETAILS. Father. I can't leave the birth date blank.
    3.jpg

    4. EMPLOYMENT. He's not a student, so I put unemployed.
    4.jpg

    5. SPONSOR DETAILS

    A. My fiance is currently in Japan, but on this part, shall I put his UK address?

    5.jpg

    B. Relationship with the Sponsor. Can't find a more suitable option.
    6.jpg

    6. IELTS.
    Is this right?
    7.jpg

    7. WHO ARE YOU STAYING IN UK WITH?
I have no other option but put "stepfather" although legally he isn't one. Also, should I really put a specific number of years? I put "permanent" in mine. While we are expecting him to leave the house when he turns 18. lol

if you think that form is confusing and complicated--just wait till you start appendix 2.

ive got all this to come in the new year--when my wife wants her 10 year old son to apply to join her.

    OK:

    1. Visa Type: Yes, "Child or Other Dependant of a Settled Person"

    2. Personal details - The Iron Law of UK Government Forms is "Don't leave a blank space unless you are told that you may", so type in whatever language he speaks best (! yes I know its silly)

    3. See PM on this one

    4. "Student" . He's learning to talk.

    5. Yes, UK Address.

    6. Yes, "One year old - exempt"is what we put in

    7. Yes, we put "stepfather"

    Good luck!

The child is a dependant of a settled person - his stepfather. Worked for us!

I think @Methersgate is going to be your point of reference when you apply to bring the wife's youngster over next year as he's recently been through the process :)

    Hi @Methersgate ,
    I have few more questions,

    1. Should I say NO because I wasn't granted yet?

    1.jpg

    2. Should I put my name or any guardian in the Ph like in case of emergency?
    1.jpg

    3. Why are the steps on the right different? And it says application started Aug 24. Does this mean we officially started the application timeline!?

All that means is when you started online, your timeline starts when paided online for your application and any questions bout your son where he staying and who with then just put his stepfather,as i did for my stepson and he is here now and when asked bout you having a visa just say no and at the end of form you can say you are awaiting your result as applying same time as your son.

The steps are different because you are being asked to pay your son's IHS, but since you are coming on a marriage settlement visa you don't have to pay it until FLR(M)

We actually paid it and had it refunded. It may be that the form insists on you paying it but it is not actually due as his visa will be for six months just like yours

so--in this case the applicant --the mother--would save two flr fees if she got married back home and applied for a spouse visa

BTW, as you can see our intended travel date is Dec.13, can I pay on let's say, Sept.5 to officially start the application? Would that be fine? I just don't want to need the latest payslip.

Yes. You just have to have the payslips etc within 28 days.

A tip on the "intended date of travel" - you visa, when issued, will start from this date. So don't make it sooner than necessary

I will put Dec.13 as intended travel date although we will fly on the 22nd. Just fearing that offices will be in Christmas break so we want it done earliest possible.

    Hi Everyone,

I am now polishing our VAF4A Appendix2. I am confused in this part and I'm scared to check the wrong box.

The fiancé is on a temporary secondment in Japan but he is a UK company employee, salaried in UK and contract was made in UK. Which of the two should I choose? The questions in both category A in 3A and 3B are the same anyway.
