If you have no absolute requirement for a Windows PC, a Chromebook is a real pleasure to use but there are still problems with a few websites. For example, I cannot access my Aqua Credit card account from a Chromebook and I discovered the other day that part of the Nationwide Building Society website was not available either. Most Chromebooks have a small SSD (2GB) and no HDD. There is also no way to upgrade memory internally, though you can always plug in a USB drive and many Chromebooks have SD card slots too. I don't think there is a Chromebook with an Ethernet port either, which was irksome when I stayed at a Cebu Hotel in December as the WiFi there was virtually non-existent in my room.
Thanks for the idea, I think I may just stick to a standard windows or andriod based laptop for now after having a bit more of a think
