Well I've switched provider (today), finally gone from AOL (been with them since I've had home broadband) to TalkTalk (one of the same in essence). The TalkTalk line rental is half price @ £7.40 and the £2-odd is for the BB. I've read awful reviews about TT but I'll suck it and see. I did toy with using optics rather than copper but couldn't justify it for the amount I use BB. As long as I can stream the HD films from Blinkbox/Netflix I'm happy. Hope I'm not moaning in weeks/months down the line!

Sounds a good price. I am with Manx Telecom and I pay a lot more than that. Am looking at broadband only phone and internet for £15.0 pm. For here thats a good price.

That's not a bad price John. I've sat on the fence with the AOL for years, never even bartered to get a decent price on it, just auto-paid each month without too much concern. Some belt tightening is required where possible now as we are "expecting" :D

Im moving house in a few weeks and I've been looking at TT too, trying to get BB only no phone. I've been with Virgin for years so I am looking to change. I find the sites a little daunting, too much choice.

I like the phrase expecting, nice and old fashioned, congratulations :)

Timmers, why not phone as well? Seems the better deals are when the phone is ported too. Might be an ideal opportunity with you moving.

The only problem I have with the idea of BB with BB phone is the possibility of the phone line dropping out. Having said that, we have that arrangement at work and we have no problem with the BB phones.

Ohh it's not SIP. Just paying another provider for the copper from my house to the telegraph pole in essence.

I said SIP but basically the phones share broadband with internet devices on the same bandwidth.

Is that SIP or IP or what is that?

I have been looking around for a while as my contract expired a long time ago, but can't find anything really matching my AOL deal.
And besides, looking at the onlione reviews of TT, Virgin, and whathave you, makes scary reading.
And I am very reluctant to abandon a safe and secure BT phone for the unknown.

Ahh sure. Your voice calls are filtered on that line of course so shouldn't impact on the BB. The impact would be mainly on shared digital devices on the BB connection.

...better the devil you know of course and I hope I haven't made a mistake...but nothing ventured... Same here, I've read some scathing reports but in context are they that bad? I mean, how many people go online a purposely compliment compared to those that purposely complain. Bad experience can often dominate a persons perspective because we always expect everything should work, especially when we've parted with hard earned money.
