Hi, everyone! I am one of the 27 Filipino scholars of the UK government for this year for a postgraduate degree. I will be arriving in Leeds on the 16th of September (hopefully!). Anyone here from Leeds? Would be nice to find fellow Filipinos in a new country.

Hiya, Leeds is great, we're not so far away from there.

There's a Filipino food shop there and you see Pinoy going in, there's also a community, I'm sure I've seen notices at the Barrio festivals :)

Malou, tell you what, if you want to, buzz me and I'll ask wife if she'll add you on facebook :)

    Hi Malou
I hope that everything is progressing well and that you are ready for your imminent arrival in Leeds. Congratulations to you and the other students qualifying for Chevening scholarships and I hope that you really enjoy your time in the UK.
As other members have indicated there is a Filipino community here in Leeds and as well as in some of the nearby towns. There is a long established Filipino shop where you can always get hold of Skyflakes or Piattos if you are missing your home comforts. The shop can be found on Facebook at:
    https://www.facebook.com/filfoods.leeds?fref=ts
The Facebook page for the shop also has a number of friends who are local Filipino's. I also know Filipino's here in Leeds and would be happy to help connect you if you wish.
    All the best...:)

Welcome. A friend of mine lives in Morley, Leeds. We went to uni together, and another Pinay I met from another forum (I think she's also here but not active anymore) is from Leeds. Drop me a message when you're here and I'll ask her to meet you when she can. ;)

You originally hoped to arrive in Leeds on 16 September but it is already 18 September. I hope you won't be delayed too long.
