It varies enormously, Kevin. And there is no correlation between time taken and refusal or success. It just depends.

Ours took 2 weeks. For some it has taken just a day. For others it can be 2 or 3 months.

Have a look here for the Philippines and Settlement Visa decisions made in December 2013:

    http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/general-info/processing-times/

They quote in days ( 5 days to the working week not including holidays ) .

Settlement Visas 40 days Total decisions made
    Settlement 78% 74

So only 78% of the 74 decisions were made within 40 days ie 8 weeks (not including embassy holidays). And only 40% of the decisions were made within 3 weeks (15 working days). Whats more it varies each month.

So on that basis yours is easily still within schedule.

    Thanks John,

It was what i had gathered but it just seems strange there is no rhyme or reason for time the taken between refusal or success... Just have to keep busy and hope for a positive result.....

Was watvhing something funny there about Scottish people and as I am one myself i feel its ok to share it........... Its super funny..

Thanks John. I will let you all know ehrn the result comes through

Plus, do remember that the ECOs will have been partying it up over the festive period, no doubt using applicants paperwork for paper aeroplanes and stuff.....:D

    Hi Kev,

I think given the time of year you applied, don't expect a quick return on the application. But I know what that wait is like, and I'm sure any day now you will get that email advising a decision has been made.

Good luck with it as well.. ;)

Nice one. I used to spend a lot of time in Aberdeen and my ex wife and her family are from Perth / Dundee. In fact I lived in Aberdeen for nearly 6 years.

It took a full 3 months from when my wife and I applied to getting the actual visa. Those were painful days but so I feel your pain.

Let us know how it goes. One thing I felt when my wife was rejected was a slight sense of shame, that I'd somehow failed.

I didn't, (as our appeal win proved) but one way or the other your mahal will be with you, just remember that.

It will happen! Don't have any other attitude... Boy do I remember those anxious days, getting up early every morning and checking my phone for any emails:confused:

And I had the worst initial decision possible, but it also made me more determined to beat the UKBA with (what I knew) as a poor decision.

The fact that you were here asking questions, following links, doing your research is a good thing. Chance favors the prepared mind!
