Anyone had experience in doing this? What's the cheapest way of doing this? I am using western at the moment but the costs seem very high, ( need to send around 1000 gbp a month)
Have a look at this thread http://www.british-filipino.com/index.php?threads/moving-money-to-the-u-k-from-the-philippines.5821/ I would expect most banks over there to be able to international transfers.
I use world remit now, I find it really quick, they send the sender and receiver a txt to say its gone through
No he's asking about sending from the Philippines back to the UK, if WorldRemit do this then I would be very interested I too use them. The only general bi-directional company that I know of is Western Union and that is who he is currently using.
sorry my mistake. well maybe its possible to have an account with world remit in the Philippines, but that's what they charge for me to send there
I just had a quick look on there, they can make an account In the Philippines and send the money here
Well, it never happened often, and my partner and me have had some terrible arguments over the years (10 years) but over the last couple of years she has sent me money via Western Union, I have a picture of me the first time money ever came back You may not have read my story, but in short it is this - she can't marry me, we have two kids, I support them, sometimes she buggers off to South Korea when she is upset with me and the financial situation (and I don't really blame her), we are still together and she has sent me a few hundred quid back from over there would be nice if it was more but it is good that it was anything!
I think HSBC and CitiBank are probably the cheapest, providing you have sufficient funds going into your account each month. Transferwise is, supposedly, introducing payments from the Philippines soon.
Yes, you can send money from the Philippines to other countries, via World Remit, but I don't think you can send to the UK.
Perfect thanks guys, will get an account with world remit sorted , also since this post found skrill so will dig deep into both see what ones cheapest
Personally I don't like the look of Skrill, plus I've never heard of them in this context, all of that would make me worry!
There's also a couple of Philippines issued reloadable/pre-paid ATM cards The PNB Global Filipino Card and the iRemit Visa card Both cards can be loaded online May not suit everyone but for me I find them very useful. Since they are 'local' cards there's only the normal P10 transaction charge at ATM's They can be used in shops etc or for online purchases just as a regular debit card. Todays current RoE's for remittance are:- WorldRemit = P71.66 iRemit & PNB =P72.90 Some Facts & Figures on using these:- WorldRemit Send amount: GBP100 Fees: GBP 4.99 Total to pay: GBP104.99 Your recipient gets PHP7,166 Send amount: GBP1000 Fees: GBP6.99 Total to pay: GBP1006.99 Your recipient gets PHP71,660 Send amount: GBP2000 Fees: GBP6.99 Total to pay: GBP2006.99 Your recipient gets PHP143,320 Send amount: GBP 3000 Fees: GBP 6.99 Total to pay: GBP 3006.99 Your recipient gets: PHP214980 iRemit Send amount: GBP100.00 Fees: GBP6.00 Total to pay: GBP106.00 Your recipient gets: PHP7,290 Send amount: GBP1000.00 Fees: GBP6.00 Total to pay: GBP1006.00 Your recipient gets: PHP72,9000 Send amount: GBP2000.00 Fees: GBP6.00 Total to pay: GBP2006.00 Your recipient gets: PHP145,363 Over GBP2000 is charged at GBP12 so GBP3000 works out at:- Send amount: GBP3000.00 Fees: GBP12.00 Total to pay: GBP3012.00 Your recipient gets: PHP218,700 *NB The max amount allowed under iRemit for a single transaction is GBP3900 without special dispensation. Could be an important point
The XE mid market inter-bank rate currently shows at P73.51 so it's likely that remittance rates will increase later today (UK time)
