To my knowledge, the self-assessment form only applies to the points-based settlement visas and not to the fiancée or spouse visas. But you may want to verify that with VFS.
Ah ok, that would explain it then. I think you're right actually from what I've been reading. They put that in the general settlement info bit though - they just love to confuse people don't they?
This would be for people who are self employed. If you are self employed I think you need to fill one of these out. I guess that's what I pay the accountant to do. If you are self employed then check with your accountant if you haveo one. Or get your tax return, which is what I did. If you are not self employed then it won't affect you.
Ah ok. But it didn't sound like it was referring to the usual uk self assessment tax form. It sounds like it's a form of theirs. I'm sure they could make everything much clearer if they wanted to
Oh here - this is what it is - 5. Tier 1 (Post Study Work) You will need to complete a self-assessment before you complete the Tier 1 (Post Study Work) application form, in order to calculate the points you can claim for Attributes, English Language and Maintenance requirements. Full details of the requirements and the Points Based Calculator tool for self-assessment are available on the UK Border Agency website So it's for work visas - you have to fill it in and score enough points to be able to apply for the visa.
