That would probably make you very happy wouldn't it FreddieB? You look after your lot...I`ll look after mine ...
I don't disagree with his stance on stamping out corruption. He isn't murdering corrupt government officials as far as I am aware but only firing them. I have no issue with that. I do not subscribe to the maxim 'the means justify the end'. Murder without due process is wrong. Can I think of alternative means to clean up the drug problem? Of course. Let the government properly and legally enact laws that allows the death penalty for drug peddlers and so forth, and then deal with the problem legally after giving suspects a fair trial. There is no room for grey area in this. All the talk and attempts to justify it won't change the fact that extrajudicial murder is wrong. And frankly, if anyone here really and truly doesn't know the difference between what is right and what is wrong to that extent, then frankly that person needs help.
I do not feel that the above post is appropriate. @FreddieB is entitled to his viewpoint. It is not acceptable to descend to that level of personal abuse just because you do not agree with it.
If you were a Policeman and you was ordered to arrest a Shabu dealer that knew you were there to put him in a dungeoen for the rest of his life how would you approach him in lets say a Manila squatter area?? You know that he is being protected by the Barangay captain and his councilors as they are getting a cut.. Should you go in with your arms wide open ready for big hugs or would you feel safer with the protection of a gun? Just in case he shoots at you first?
You're talking from a British perspective here with British values and a fair justice system, I'm afraid that's not going to work in the Philippines, pie in the sky.
I would feel safer with the protection of a weapon of course. My issue is that Duterte has openly encouraged citizens and police to commit murder. That is not the same thing as self defense at all.
I don't agree. If something is broken then you try and fix it. You don't make it more broken, and encouraging extrajudicial murder and vigilante killings is exactly that. I don't think @FreddieB is the banned member who drove the ice cream van. I really don't think he meant to offend and indeed I can't see what is so offensive to be honest. I don't really need to comment on this, or the earlier remark again.
Thanks. No I do not drive an ice cream van I think the promotion of extra judicial killings is unacceptable. Sorry to offend.
Actually he hasn't but I agree that could be a rather liberal interpretation of what he actually did say. He simply told the Police that they wouldn't be prosecuted if they had to use deadly force when threatened by armed villains.
Choi...The troll is on my ignore list so its now irrelevant.. I respect your views...I may not agree with them but I respect your rights to express them and believe it or not..I do listen.
That's not accurate. “These sons of whores are destroying our children. I warn you, don’t go into that, even if you’re a policeman, because I will really kill you,” “If you know of any addicts, go ahead and kill them yourself as getting their parents to do it would be too painful.” The british press: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...igo-duterte-urges-people-to-kill-drug-addicts or my previous paper, the NY daily news: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/wor...o-duterte-kill-drug-addicts-article-1.2709514 Any British PM or American President who made a remark like that would be instantly condemned and you know it. I realize that the Philippines is a different nation. But there are some standards of conduct that transcend international barriers.
