Obviously I am stuck here in China - but I am taking the day off and going to the local Buddhist Temple to pray for Sean's soul.

I know it's not my 'lot' but it can't do any harm.

I'll be thinking of you all the time Sean.

BTW - the service will be at 6.30 p.m. my time.

Also, very remiss of me, thinking about Joie and Sean's family also.

WOW. The Melville. I used to live a 2 minute walk from it, opposite the church at Sevenways.

Just got back home from Sean's funeral. It is so sad that Sean died so young - he was just 38 years of age. Whenever I use this forum I will think of Sean.

Anyone wanting to donate to Leukaemia Research in memory of Sean can do so by sending a cheque (payable to Leukaemia Research) to the funeral directors:

    c/o Diane Jollet
    C.L. Birkett & Son
    111 Higher Road
    Urmston
    MANCHESTER
    M41 9AX

Unfortunately, it is not possible to pay by credit card over the phone.

Which one was you? Were you at Merville too? Joie was hoping you would say hi to her...

Hi. I was the one using crutches and getting around is a real struggle these days. So attending a church, going to the cemetery and the Merville would be a bit tiring, especially as I had to drive 200 miles as well. I only attended the church after checking with a church member by phone to enquire about disabled access and looking on Google Street View and the church website.

There was no chance to say hello to Joie at the church as the funeral procession came in last and left first. I could not walk down the steps until everyone else had done so, as I needed to use the handrail, so I was stuck inside until the steps emptied after Joie had left. It has been a few years since I have driven that far and my wife was worried for my safety. I think when my wife gets her Visa that I will have to book her a flight to a more local airport.

In was hoping that oss would be there so that he could say hi to Joie from me but he is unwell at the moment and could not attend. I sent a message to Joie before the funeral saying that I would be leaving directly after the funeral service.

Flagged your post with a medal as "Winner".

Better thought of as "Hero" after all your struggles!

My wife wants to learn to drive when she comes to the UK, so I hope we can meet up after she has passed her test. There are not many Filipinos in North Lincolnshire for her to meet!

I am back home, albeit for a few days only, before I have to go to Somerset for another Agricultural Show.

Over the 3 days in Devon, I have constantly thought about missing the Funeral, and I felt really bad about it.
I must have shown that I was not in the mood, because the abysmal results of my overall performance has already been mentioned in dispatches... Not that I care much, really.

I do apologize to Joie and all of Sean's Family, for not having been more resolute in my approach to the work, and attended the Funeral like I originally wanted to do.
This is a sense of guilt I will carry with me as long as I live.

Don't beat yourself up, Dom - it is your responsibility to work for your family by fulfilling your work commitments and I feel Sean would understand that.
