I bought one of these yesterday. Well, the "Company" bought it for me. It is wonderful to be honest and I haven't fiddled with everything yet. It takes many hours to get these new phones up and running in a basic way with passwords and whatnot. The S Pen is amazing and very useful. So, my Apple days are over.
Quite bad the way that phones etc have taken control of peoples lives these days. Do people control the devices, or do the devices control and monitor people?
How do you get on with the size of it? A bloke on here has the iphone 6 and I think its huge. Phones seem to be getting bigger and bigger again. Iphone 5 is the right size, which is about the only thing I actually like about it.
I have one Android device, a Lenovo Yoga 10 tablet, it does a lot of things very nicely, so it is functional, I would have preferred a Windows tablet as the operating system is far superior, but there was one specific application that I could only get on Android and that was the 'New Scientist' reader app, buggy as hell, but at the end of the day I can read my magazine subscription and that's what counts. Android User Interface? In my opinion ugly, but then I think the iPhone UI is ugly too. Compared to any Windows device that I own the Android device is like a 1990's computer when it comes to bugs, things just crash all the time, my Nokia 1020 has not crashed even once in 18 months. I am not totally negative about Android but it is not a truly great OS.
It was surprising how fast I got used to the larger size, Stu. It is easier to see more things on the screen and also watch videos etc.. This Note 4 is far superior in every way to the iPhone 5 that I have. Holding the much smaller iPhone 5 seems old fashioned after using the Note 4, I don't know why. Of course it is a novelty at the moment but already I have been able to do so much more on it compared to the iPhone. It feels like a small computer rather than a phone. I am very impressed with it. Everything is new with it at the moment, Jim. I have a friend who has the Note 3 and I was watching him do so many things on it. He was even learning Thai for when he moves over there. Evernote is a very useful app to organise information for me and synchs with the laptop too. The Note 4 seems wonderful at the moment. I am hoping a new job comes up early in 2015 where I will be away from home for 4 nights a week and the Note 4 looks so much better with that in mind.
Hmm you obviously rerquire more things of your phone than I do. I only need to make calls, text etc. I don't watch films or anything like that on it. My 2014 edition 10 inch note I probably only use about 10% of its capability because i basically use it to watch videos on when I'm at work and read my kindle app.
I am only scratching the surface (not literally) of the Note 4, Timmers, but it makes my iPhone 5 seem so old fashioned.
It seems so much easier to keep organised with it, Stu. All my notes are on the app "Evernote" and the S Pen is very useful. I will try the S Pen with handwritten notes converted to text for email soon.
I have that s pen on the 10inch note and i can honestly say I've pulled it out of the slot twice......and then put it back.. I use that Evernote sometimes to, I just feel that phones are getting made into small awkward computers. Everyone is different obviously but I just want something to makes calls on, text, email etc and to sync our calenders. I think I may look at the HTC mini one 2
Well, I'm getting a new contract phone and to be perfectly honest I am finding that there is too much choice and I'm struggling with it. I looked twice at weekend on the Vodafone website to select a phone and contract which suits me but I cant make a decision.
My company bought the phone, Timmers - £547 I now pay £19/mo for one year, unlimited calls/texts/1GB data on O2 I am happy with that.
