    Hi all
I would like to marry my same sex partner at the British embassy in Manila-however im uncertain as to whether I as a UK citizen will need to obtain/show a Certificate of Non Impediment(CNI) to the embassy.
My Filipino partner has obtained the equivalent proving he isn’t married, but it isn’t clear to me if I need to obtain the CNI.
Are there any same sex couples who have married at the embassy and gone through this?
Or anyone else who knows for a fact whether I need this.
    Many thanks

My advice would be to contact the Embassy and find out exactly what they require. We are legally a same sex couple and were married under a fiancee visa in the UK. My partner came to the UK from Cayman Islands though, where they were working. We converted to a spouse visa quickly after the wedding.

Thank you for the reply.Unfortunately the British embassy in Manila never reply.I’ve tried emails,Facebook messages ,everything…I even tried to ask the question about whether I needed a Certificate of Non Impediment on the embassy contact form. The person who answered ..”Jacqui D” (possibly a bot rather than a real person) simply referred me to a very general link that answered nothing. They were really unhelpful and honestly useless. The embassy staff seem totally uninterested in helping answer queries…they basically get paid for nothing!

You can now get the affidavit you require for your partner at your local civic office. Not sure British Embassy do them anymore.
    Go local

I did my affidavit at the British embassy in UAE. Just had to arrange the appointment via the gov website and go swear an oath on the Bible that I was single :-/ that was it

Are you sure the British embassy offer marriage service? Not all of them do

around About covid time it was advised you could get the affidavit and the taking of the oath done at local government office and as I say in the response not sure BE in Manila do either service anymore
It appears to of changed again in 2023https://assets.publishing.service.g...ge-License-in-the-Philippines_CAHC-signed.pdf
