I've got a residence document just expired and my employer said I am no eligble to work..is the next step getting a permanent residency or ILR or I can go straight for naturalisation? My husband is British and ive been here 5 years ive got the residency through surrinder Singh route.
Hi Macky welcome to the wonderful world of HO nonsense ! You are still completely legal here in the UK as a residence presuming only that your husband still lives in the UK . Your problem is that because the vignette in your passport has "expired" your employer would have to understand European law to realise they cannot have a problem employing you . To get a confirmation of your status you will have to apply for P.R. £65 plus £19 for bio metrics , its a good idea anyway as achieving it for £84 proves you qualify to apply for a British passport (you will need the English test and Life in the UK or whatever they want nowadays) which is a much more costly application around £1000 i believe Once you have applied for PR you will receive a Certificate of Application which will like the first time you applied confirm your existing right to work it takes 3-4 weeks after applying so best to get on it quickly
Tnx Kieth..one more thing, after acquiring PR when can you apply for citizenship? And what form to fill in? Sorry for being a nuisance. .tnx again x
Citizenship. My wife has her application pending. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/431508/Form_AN_v_05.pdf
