I'm revisiting the immigration thing again I have been told that the residence card I'd the best for my Filipino wife to be able to move to the UK has anyone gone down this route if so what does it require? Thanks Stewart.
Hi Stewart. I am in Dubai but not sure I understand your question. Which residence card are you referring to?
David Hi, I was looking on the UK Gov site, Apply for a UK residence card and it states you may be able to apply for a residents card if you're from outside the EEA, under eligibility as a British citizen until the UK finalise Brexit a British passport holder is classified as EEA and therefore can be qualified or retained right of residence. So my wife can apply for this and then after 5 years she can apply for full residency
The UK Government recognises its citizens as citizens of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and not as EEA citizens; this is a legal opt-out obtained by Blair government. To bring your wife to the UK from Dubai, she will need to apply for a marriage settlement visa
If you check out this forum, you will see a great many threads on the subject of UK citizens trying to obtain UK residence for their foreign spouses.
