Hi this is Erica again! I posted topics here about visitor visa. After long discussion with my fiancé we finally down to getting a spousal visa after we get married here in Philippines on December 2015. I'd like to ask for the expert advise of @Timmers and @ChoiAndJohn for the requirements that we needed to submit for the spousal visa. I'm aware that my fiancé will need to visit in British embassy here in Phil to get for the Certificate of Legal Capacity, would like to ask what papers will my fiancé née dto bring in embassy to get that certificate. I have another concern, after the wedding we will be needing to wiat for the NSO Certificate of wedding and go for my name in passport to be changed to my husband's surname. How long will be the procedure, before NSO wedding certificate be released and also my name to be changed. Thank you very much! This is stressful but I'm loving it!
Take a look at the link below, it should be of help; http://www.british-filipino.com/ind...he-philippines-and-settlement-in-the-uk.9718/
You don't need to change your name in your passport if you are worried about timescales. You can always apply in your maiden name and either change it later or stick to your maiden name until you renew your passport.
Hi @Maharg thank you! I'm worried that if I applied visa using my maiden name, my application will be denied, thank you! So I'll just have to wa it for my NSO marriage certificate then I can proceed with the application? I read comments here saying that it might take 6 bloody 6 months before it can be released. Wish there is a faster way. Thank you for the time reading my post and for answering
I think @Maharg is right, u dont need to change ur passport coz u have it already since before the marriage..it should be ok for sure
There is no way the visa would be denied, lots of people have applied in their maiden name, there is provision on the application form to show other names you are known by. Don't worry
My wife is still using her maiden name on her passport. Apply in that name, then put your married name where it asks for other names you are known as. You have both names covered then. The BRP will be in the same name as your passport.
