Hi everyone. My wife is currently in the UK under FLR and she works in a care home the management of which has been taken over by a new company. This takeover took place six months ago and my wife has been asked by the company to provide a copy of my UK Passport. I find this a strange request, can't think why they would need it and am reluctant to provide it. My wife's BRP clearly states work permitted so why would they want my passport details? Has anybody else ever been asked this?
Have you/your wife asked why they want a copy of YOUR passport? Although not the same, my wife works for the NHS (a privatised/contracted-out company/service is the best way I can describe it!) and they keep asking her for a 'Right to Work' Share Code - which we get via a government website - despite her BRP stating her 'Right to Work'!
I agree with @UKDJ has said, they may not know how to use the system to confirm right to work, or maybe they just want to check your wife’s details to be correct ongoing ie married ( maybe stung previously on arranged marriage or something similar) I would just hand a copy in as requested but maybe blank out part of passport number. Don’t think there is anything dodgy going on
