See the amazing interactive image here Interact, play, marvel and have fun!! Tech Details:- The pictures were taken using Canon EOS 7D cameras with EF 400mm f/2.8 IS II USM lenses and Extender EF 2x III teleconverters driven by special Rodeon VR Head ST robotic panorama heads from the Clauss company in Germany. If printed at normal resolution, the photo would be 98 meters long (323 feet) and 23 meters high (77 feet) – almost as big as Buckingham Palace.
Very interesting, stitched panorama's work best when the focal length is long and in this case they wanted detail so they needed lots of small detailed patches to make the patchwork quilt. What I would say is that software is lousy, totally counter intuitive, for the last twenty years a click would pin your location on the canvas and you would then drag the canvas in the direction you wanted, that software works in the exact opposite mode and is quite painful. Great detailed panorama though.
Thanks for this link, Peter. Like Dom, I had a look but think it will be more useful for someone living in London.
I actually got shown this picture on a course I was on 2 weeks ago. It is very impressive. The course was about ECDIS (electronic chart display information system) ad I'm still not sure how he got round to showing us this picture?!
Good idea. To be honest on the course everyone in the room first reaction was to zoom in to the windows of any of the flats to se if there where any ladies in a state of undress!! Thats what you get with a room full of sailors!!
