I'm fortunate that my wife and I share very similar music tastes. She's more than happy to listen to Pink Floyd in the car along with many of my other CD's. In the 80's I was much more into the R&B and soul coming from the States than the sterile UK keyboard and dreadful pop ****e that filled the charts. It seems that the sort of music that I enjoy was also appreciated in the Phils. The "yacht rock" sound was also popular in the Philippines whilst it wasn't appreciated in the UK. I couldn't believe it when she started to sing along to Rainbow's Temple of the King shortly after arriving in the UK. I enjoy listening to several Filipino radio stations such as Crossover and Boracay Beach Radio via the internet and a Philippine Radio app on my phone. The choice of music played is much more to my taste than anything in the UK - and they tend to focus on the music rather than their own voices. Where we differ are the godawful, talentless Pinoy singers such as Regine Velasquez and Nina.
Forgot to mention. You can snuggle up to the Spice Girls. Pink Floyd? I'll give it a miss, whiskers always makes marks on my skin
I've always preferred "indie rock"(think Blur, Oasis, Manics, Stereophonics, Mansun, Curve, Ride, Echobelly, etc), and I used to think Floyd were a bit hippy-ish for me (apart from Another Brick in the Wall). Now I realise why Dark Side is such a popular album. I used to work in local radio, so I've been exposed to a huge range of music over the years. Now I can appreciate the music a bit more.
Same thing with Elsa and I - she loves the old American soft rock crap. Celine Dion is the devil in disguise. I played some Dreadzone the other day, and she said whats that rubbish.
Crumbs another reason to come here! I pay £2/month for my Spotify and £2.50/month for my footy and hopefully £20 for 200gb/month Chinese fibr coming soon.
I like Dreadzone. I've got "360 Degrees", "Second Light" and "Biological Radio" Second Light is magnificent.
Glad it's not just me , most ambient music I like came with "that music makes me sleepy". ZZ Top was too loud.
Little Britain best track by far. I've seen Dreadzone twice - back in 96, when second light was released, and 2 years ago. One of the best live acts in my opinion.
I know what you mean. I had a similar thing with my wife who announced how much she loved The Scorpions. At first I thought it must be another band with the same name, but, nope, it was the actual Scorpions. We went to see them live and she was videoing loads of it and then putting it on Facebook with comments like: "Oh my God! I can't believe I am actually seeing them in concert!" The Scorpions Go figure!
