I don't know much about economics and articles like that just leave me baffled. Don't know why. It's just how it is. But try telling people who are forced to live in squatter areas with no prospect of getting a decent job that there is some sort of economic boom going on in The Philippines. What they need to do is get rid of this ridiculous system where you can't be employed without a college degree, thus leaving so many people in a poverty trap.
You dont have to have a college degree here to work.. I know lots of Carpenters,Masons,Car mechanics, labourers, farm hands, cleaners, maids etc that have never seen the inside of a college!! Lots of lazy people here that dont want to work..Just like in England.
Yeah but how much money do they earn? To get into some sort of proper employment - even if it's working in McDonalds or as a shop assistant in a supermarket - you need a college degree, which is daft.
Yep..The wages are low..very low but that is mostly due to the huge population here..100 Million or more? There are huge waiting lists for factory jobs..If someone leaves they take the next qualified applicant in line..If they dont like the money the one behind them will take it.. A private company like Mc do`s can be as strict as they wish in asking for requirements because there will never be a shortage of recently graduating students.. I know it may sound ridiculous but from Mc do`s perspective it actually makes a lot of sense to only employ College grads..
