Just hop on a plane and go............ make sure your Passport has at least 6 months validity, and on arrival you get a standard 30 days stamp.
If your wife travels with you, and the marriage was registered in the Philippines, then you could avail yourself of the Balikbayan privilege, and get a 12 month stamp... Free of charge......
Just don't let your baggage out of your sight, and have it shrink wrapped twice over before you leave the Uk...............

    have a nice trip......
Oh........ Don't lend money to any one, regardless of mortal circumstances...

Might there be any problems with Bruce getting his wife back to the UK?

Good idea to make sure that all the paperwork is in place.

Maybe Bruce could of give us a bit more info in what his concerns are or trying to achieve. On the assumption they married in UK through the normal channels then there should be no problem travelling back and forth. Also assuming she came to the UK to get married then they should have all the necessary documentation.

She came here on a fiancee visa, we got married within the 6mnths required, however, we "haven't" registered our marriage with the Ph embassy, as yet, and "haven't", renewed her passport details, also would we need to renew her BRP to travel to the Philippines?
    many thanks

No problems entering Philippines for either of you.
When you arrive to Philippines you should approach the immigration officer together, present both passports plus your marriage certificate and have you wife ask for the Balikbayan Stamp. (good for one year)

There's no mandatory requirement to update her passport / BRP in order to enter Philippines.

The BRP and her passport must be the same detail.
Better to update her passport to her married name at some future convenient time. It requires a new passport and at last count takes between 12-18 weeks from Philippine Embassy London.
Then the BRP can be replaced with a new one showing the same name as her passport. Strictly speaking this needs to be within 3 months of the passport change.

Unless her passport needs updating it's just an unnecessary expense until after 2nd FLR(M) IMO unless there are personal reasons.

Assuming that your wife changed her name upon marriage, she is obliged to apply for a new BRP in her new name within 3 months of the marriage, otherwise she is liable to a fine of £1,000 or even be sent home...

As you got married here in the UK and a Fiancée Visa provides no BRP, then the first application for a BRP should have been in her married name (I think)

Only if the name in the passport has changed.

My wife is on her second FLR and still using the maiden name because that is the name on her passport.

Everything else, such as bank statements, household bills etc, are in her married name. It really hasn't caused any issues whatsoever.

You just need to use the same name in passport when you apply for BRP.
