By coincidence its just been on Granada Reports regarding the ex Bolton player taking over, I think Bolton need to get some pennies from somewhere to buy one or two quality players, if they don't they will be playing my team Bury next season
Yes you are correct, started his career at Bolton Wanderers, then went on to play for Everton and England .
Think it's too late, But you never know, with Reid as coach. Need to start winning games draws are no good, keep loosing by the odd goal. Gigg lane here we come.
You never know it may be just the lift they have been waiting for, look at Chelsea and Liverpool they have both picked up after a change of management, will be interesting to see what Benitez can do at Newcastle too
Reid also played for Man City QPR Southampton Notts County and one game for Bury great football man Good Luck to him
Never been the same since Big Sam left I remember going to see them when I worked at Blackburn and they played decent hard graft football thorn in everyones side
I really admire Peter Reid as a footballer and as a pundit. He knows the game very well. Just wished he'd had quicker legs so he could have stopped Maradona on his run.
Peter Reid explaining why he didnt tackle Maradona (warning contains bad language) https:/b/www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qpKQqdO92I
Peter Reid is obviously quite a good after dinner speaker, he can return to that if it doesn't work out at Bolton
I think he has the typical northern wit,I bet he is a class act once youve had a couple of beers to relax your mind haha
I think sadly he is beyond help now and each relapse will be longer and more difficult just like George Best went through.
What annoyed me about George Best is that he continued to drink even after a liver transplant, not a good advertisement for encouraging people to donate their organs in my view. Gazza is just like George Best or any other alcoholic in the world for that matter, just that Best and Gazza hit the headlines each time they got really drunk, fell down, hurt themselves, abused someone or hit their wives and the rest of the trouble drink causes them. Its all very sad but when I see them not helping themselves my pity starts to diminish. Great footballers, the pair of them, at least nobody can deny them that accolade.
I met George Best in his club in London in the 80's. A thoroughly likeable man and so easy to chat to.
On Jan 3 1970 a bunch of school friends travelled from Colchester to Ipswich hoping to get a glimps of Best et al, a Policeman gave all five of us tickets he had taken from Man United fans and we ended up in there end, afterwards we went back to the train station and where astonished that the entire team on foot passed by us my mate grabbed Georges leather belt on his jacket and still has it today http://www.11v11.com/matches/ipswich-town-v-manchester-united-03-january-1970-212964/
