Merry christmas and happy new year to everyone. My wife was going to renew her passport in february 2021 but due to the uk in total lockdown the embassy was not accepting any appointments , come near the end of april we finally manged to book an appointment in october 2021 in london for her passport renewal. Her passport ran out at the end of april 2021. At the embassy she was told her application would be sent to manila for processing and as at this moment we are still waiting for her new passport to arrive. We can start the ilr application on 22nd january 2022 but does anyone know where we stand if the passport has still not arrived as the first thing asked would be her passport number. Would we have to inform immigration about this situation and is there any implications or timeline as her brp also runs out in february 2022. We have tried to contact the embassy through email and facebook but have had no reply although I understand it is now christmas it is frustrating that we cannot even see how the application is proceeding. Also my wife is in full-time employment what would happen if still no passport and an expired brp at the end of february, would she still be employed. Any advice would be great or if anyone is having this problem I would like to know your experience. Many Thanks.
Has she got her last passport the one just expired? As long as you apply prior to your BRP running out your immigration and right to work remains the same.
Thanks for the reply, she has got her last passport but as it is out of date my concern is when applying for the flr it will most probably ask for her passport number on the application which i guess would be invalid as i presume her new passport will have a different number i just hope the new one arrives within the next 3 weeks.
we completed my wifes ILR in the mid part of this year, on the subject of passports you will be fine just fill in with what you have! When it comes to ILR what they are looking for is amount of time out of the country in the last 5 years so the new passport is pretty much irrelevant other than its a means of identification all the information is in the expired passport travel stamps etc or blank pages if she has not been out of the UK. If memory serves me right yes you get asked for the passport so complete with the expired one they ask for a copy of the biometric page give that in and when it gives the option of any other supporting documents to support the application let them have receipts for your new passport and a brief note that due to covid restrictions you applied for a renewal at the soonest date possible Paragraph 34 of the immigration rules covers it
