    My wife has the text saying a decision has been made. Bang on 40 days after applying. Fingers crossed. :eek:

    Good luck Paul. I hope you get your visa. Sadly, I was not so lucky..

    Yes, extremely nervous now given your case. Mine is also not straightforward on the finances front. I'm certainly concerned we're under the 40 days mark too. Don't think I'll be on here for a while if it is a no!

    all the best of luck mate, from experience the time taken to decide a case is no indication of whether the application is successful or not, so dont let that bother you. What's important is that you met all the rules for a spouse visa. Your case can be delayed for a number of reasons, usually because of a backlog of cases, how efficient they are in processing the visa, etc

    Thing is, it is not delayed on the basis of their recent stats. It is slightly early, if anything. Oh well, there is no point in going over it again and again in my head, I suppose, we'll see tomorrow :)

    Holy Moly! Just checking through my spam folder as I thought it was a bit weird that my wife got a txt but we haven't had an e-mail...... and then I spotted this in the middle of the spam:

    I'm an ultra cautious type, and I won't be happy until she has the passport in hand, but I reckon we've got it! :vhappy:

    Bonifacio Day in the Philippines.... so my wife hasn't been able to collect the passport to confirm everything... but here is our timeline and documents submitted for anyone interested:

    25th January 2011 - Met for the first time in Manila
    Circa late April 2011 - Moved into together
    June 2012 - Engaged
    24th August 2012 - Married
    31st August - Marriage certificate released
    21st September - NSO copy of marriage certificate released
    3rd October - Application submitted
    28th November - Visa granted!

    Documents (My Wife)
    * Bank Statements
    * Birth Certificate
    * Postal ID (as proof that we lived together)
    * TOEIC English result
    * NSO Marriage Certificate
    * Passport

    Sponsor

    * Copy of passport pages from both my passports (UK and Ireland)
    * Birth Certificate
    * 6 months worth of payslips
    * 6 months worth of bank statements
    * P60 for 2011/12
    * Letter from employer with date of entry, current yearly pay rate and confirming full time employment
    * Signed Personal Statement (4 pages)
    * About 25 photos of us together at various landmarks in the Philippines, Hong Kong and Singapore
    * Copy of flight details for the above visits
    * House deeds for where we will staying initially
    * Signed letter from relative consenting to my wife living at the above property
    * Copy of ID for the above relative
    * Pictures of the rooms from the above property
    * Copy of the latest mortgage statement from my own property (currently leased)
    * Leasing agreement for the above
    * Condominium title for property in Manila (with address same as Postal ID)

    A couple of notes: I question how much the P60 matters when mine was well below the stated minimum. So I wouldn't worry if you're applying and the latest P60 doesn't have above the threshold. I also had been overdrawn considerably on the first bank statement, and for a brief period on the 2nd bank statement, but again this seems to not count for much. The finances seem to focus all on the income of the last 6 months (if you've been with the same employer over that period).

    Well done and congratulations to you both.
    The message is an automated one that gets triggered by the press of a button.
    I hope by now that the passport is held in hand and the visa there for all to see.
    I have never yet known any other result from a message worded that way.

    Great job! :vhappy:

    Well not always with recent governments in this country. We might well have applied sooner but for the bar on under 21s, which my wife fell foul of (and still would if they hadn't overturned it). Except for the military, of course. What was all that about? And under a Labour government too. :erm: But I take the point :)

    Not yet as it was Bonifacio Day on Friday.... one of the myriad of holidays they get in the Philippines! So we will know for sure tomorrow.

    Does anyone know what the usual situation is with the validity of the visa? Is it usually valid from the date of issue? Just thinking ahead now as obviously would like my wife with me for Christmas!

    Depends if you put any requested date of travel on the application.
    Without special requests the date of visa validity is usually the date of issue.

    Looks pretty good for Christmas in terms of logistics, even though flights may be peaking in terms of cost and availability.

    Your wife will need to organise the CFO sticker. Has she already completed the seminar and received the certificate?
    If not ask her to check and confirm with CFO about schedules etc.

    In the worst case scenario CFO does have desks at NAIA for collection of the all important sticker (as long as you have all the paperwork and certificate)

    If needed you can the CFO desk at NAIA on tel no. 8795685.
    You'd need to call them well ahead of time. Tell them your flight details and get confirmation that someone will be at the desk and will wait to hand over the sticker.

    Thanks for the info. Yep, we didn't put down a date too far in advance. It came back valid from issue.

    I thought the same on flights but there is one next week via Saudi Airlines for £215! Even after that Kuwait Airways are on around the £250 mark. Taxes included - bar the nonesense departure tax, terminal tax etc at Ninoy Aquino Airport. I'm going to get it booked as soon as she completes the CFO, hopefully tomorrow.

    Everything looks great.
    Those flights look remarkably good prices, well done.

    Yes, keep up the pressure for CFO although it seems from recent reports that the UK slots don't get filled up so hopefully all will be plain sailing.

    Looks like a special Christmas on it's way.
    Better get some warm clothes on the priority list though :D

    She went yesterday at 7am and it was full up. I'd warned her it was first come, first served. Today she is going at 5am, well a couple of hours from now, to arrive for 6.30am! Should be okay. Yep, I've warned her on the weather but she wants to see snow. I've informed her that she'll soon get sick of that! :D

    All sorted. My wife arrives on Sunday :lovey:

    Does anyone know what are the various charges she'll have to pay at Ninoy Aquino? I know about the Terminal Tax but do departing Filipinos have to pay some extra stuff?
