In January, the Home Office introduced legislation to set the maximum amounts it can charge for visa, immigration and nationality applications over the next 4 years. This legislation is now in force.

Today, 26 February, the Home Office laid further legislation in Parliament, which will make changes to specific application fees.

The new legislation will come into effect on 18 March (6 April for the Isle of Man).

Did you happen to notice just how much it can cost if any changes to the settlement visa 30-day window are needed

so do all goverment services get jacked up by 25%---or is that level of increase reserved as a punishment for us poor sods who have no choice but to stump up and smile?

Does this mean then that first FLR application will cost £811 + £500 if you do it in person + £600 NHS charge = £1911?:cry::cry:

No it means that application for FLR(M), which is a 30 month visa, would cost £811 + £500 (in person same day) + £500 Health surcharge (for 30 months) = £1811

Ok, so £500 for health surcharge. Thank you for clearing that up, @Micawber!

For any FLR(M) application the Health surcharge is based on 30 months visa validity which equates to £500
An initial entry clearance for settlement (spouse visa) the charge would be £600 as the visa validity is 33 months

For Fiancee visa the validity is 6 months max so no health surcharge until FLR(M) application is made then it's £500

    Yes.

For Asawa's next step I see the ILR has gone up a big chunk but slightly compensated for in the fact that Life in the UK remains the same. At least we scraped throught without paying any NHS charges along the way.

We could have actually been done now with the whole process but a slight delay/technicality hit us regards name change. We could have got through without it but Asawa wanted it as correct as it could be which I understand. No pain, no gain :)
