    For many years, it has been the unofficial Italian Anthem, and for me it is ever so evocative.

    Every time I listen to this piece, regardless of who sings and whomever plays, I shed a few tears.

    Like I am doing as I write.....

    damn.............

    Yes I love this piece of music. Indeed love all things Italian. I lived in Milan for a while and I'm looking forward to going back to Italy one day, Choi wants to visit Rome and see the Pope of course. :)

    For the linguistically challenged

    Go, thoughts, on golden wings;
    Go, settle upon the slopes and hills,
    where warm and soft and fragrant are
    the breezes of our sweet native land!
    Greet the banks of the Jordan,
    the towers of Zion ...
    Oh my country so beautiful and lost!
    Or so dear yet unhappy!
    Or harp of the prophetic seers,
    why do you hang silent from the willows?
    Rekindle the memories within our hearts,
    tell us about the time that have gone by
    Or similar to the fate of Solomon,
    give a sound of lament;
    or let the Lord inspire a concert
    That may give to endure our suffering :cry:

    You are lucky to have such a wonderful piece as the "unofficial Italian Anthem".
    I am not familiar with something similar for the UK, but then again I don't know very much about classical music or opera.

    I am very moved by this sad Arvo Pärt piece "Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten" even though I am not Estonian :D:
