After many years of constant Sony Ericsson loyalty, a couple of weeks ago I upgraded to Samsung for a change. I had the chance to take the new all singing all dancing Sony Experia but decided not to. My new Samsung Galaxy IIs arrived at the hotel, while I was in london for work and immediately struck me as extremely user friendly, although the camera is not to the standard I am used to. But even if only 8meg, is not to be sniffed at........... Since I got back home, I have been checking the various features out, and must admit that apart from the bluetooth not pairing up with the car's Sony Ericsson handsfree, and the message ringtones sucking, I am pleasantly impressed with all the rest. The touch screen is etremely sensible, and just proximity to it with a finger will activate it. So far.... So good......
I had samsungs for a good while and always liked their products. I have since moved to HTC Desire now though. Just felt the sammys where getting a bit big
Nice bit of kit that, one of my friends has one and I've played around with it so I know how it goes. Also very light in the hands
I've got an HTC Desire S, very happy with it. Got a 2 year contract with 02 which up for renewal in 12 months, so may go with a Samsung, they seem to get good reviews and have much more functionality than the HTC.
I have an iPhone 4 with 6 months to go on the contract. I like the iPhone after having an HTC before. The aesthetic experience of Apple is unbeatable IMO. Not sure what to do when the contract is up. I may just keep the iPhone 4 and wait for the iPhone 5. BTW I listened to the audiobook of the new book on Jobs. which I enjoyed a lot. Jobs was a truly remarkable man and from the hippy culture, which is ok in my book.
I like Iphones, but I hate Itunes and the whole sync thing.. For me, Android is so much easier to add media to. My next phone will either be the HTC One X or the Samsung Galaxy S III (though it has yet to be announced, but I expect it out in June). The decider will be battery life!
I will be taking delivery of a Samsung Galaxy Apollo tomorrow on Vodafone PAYG. It may not be the latest phone, but I could not ignore the price: £44.90, including SIM card with £10 credit. It is unlocked, so I can put in my Orange contract SIM without problems. The specification is pretty much on a par with the HTC Wildfire.
From e2save.com - just ignored the fact that they were apparently out of stock - delivery is on it way... http://www.e2save.com/mobile-phone/...efurb.html?network=vodafone&tariffcode=PPVODA It is also available from mobiles.co.uk at the same price.
Let me thank you too, Howerd. I've been looking for just that but unlocked too. Like Dom, I was always sony ercison then last year switched to LG. Grrr darn thing. Now I've grown to hate it. It keeps switching off and so messy to use. Just doesn't suit me. My wife has iPhone4. I prefer the design of the iPone 3, much more sexy. But the 4 has plenty of good aspect to it. Naturally she loves it.
I find e2save absolutely fantastic, despite the plethora of one star reviews on the internet. I have had two cashback contract mobile through them and several PAYG handsets - many of which I gave for Xmas presents to my mahal's family. All of e2save's phones are unlocked (PAYG and contract). I am happy with the refurbished phones - you are guaranteed to get a phone with 12 months manufacturer's warranty, manual and power adaptor. The Samsung Galaxy Apollo also arrived with a USB lead but the earphones were missing (who cares?) but there was no micro SD card either, so that is a little extra expense.
Think I will wait until the 4G phones come out when my iPhone contract is up - just contract without a new phone. I saw that Apple said that their new iPads worked with 4G, but it was the U.S. 4G which uses different frequencies Besides there is still no 4G network in the UK, not like Angola: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17898861 I see the roads are still as bad as when I worked there in the late 90's
I am in no rush for 4G because of the issues surrounding what "is" and "isn't" 4G. I am quite happy to miss that for another couple of years whilst the companies and the government finally get round to sorting out a UK standard that fits in with overseas standards... Just think, it could be worse than the whole banding (duel band, tri band, quad band) if they get this wrong and adopt a standard out of line with the rest of Europe or indeed the US and Asia
I think it will be about a year before we start seeing it in the UK in any real sort of rollout, but a good year after that before it catches up with 3G.. After seeing the Galaxy S III.. I still think the HTC One X is the better buy, not much better really when you consider the stuff you use a smart phone for. I am not too impressed with the S voice and the other features. Those are just pre installed apps, which I don't want to pay extra for a phone for..
