I gave you rope to see what you were on about.. You chose not to post anything but at the same time you opened more accounts with the same e-mail address just to try your luck... Well..... It has run out..... Bye................:ban:
Spam bots have human users who answer the question, they apply for multiple sites and the question pops up for the person to answer and then the bot takes over.
Using a more sophisticated Captcha, that has a different question each time would solve that problem.
There are algorithms out there that can work out even the most sophisticated Captcha, plus they get annoying to people trying to sign up. A good way forward I have found is to limit what gets posted by new users, which is why people who sign up have to get past 15 posts before they can post links and images without those posts getting moderated first. Also the guest forum is moderated no matter who posts in there, and you will be surprised how much junk spammers attempt to post in there, despite a warning that it is moderated. I do think though, that there is no fool proof way of preventing spam, we just have to make it more difficult for the spammers to do their thing.
Personally I am not bothered if it is a bot , "Data" from Star Trek, or some demented human being playing silly bugger. In my view the end result stays the same. If I perceive any threat to the site, to the membership, or just trolling or "sleepers", they are out on their sorry bums........
