Ah I knew that one :)

Are the ants your's or your neighbor's?

Our ant problem got a lot better one the neighbor extended their property and built right up against our place, at that point they were forced to remove the ants nest.

Now we still have them but they are not so many, they used to go after the rice, it was fascinating watching them set up highways all across the house to each source of food.

I am guessing ants are more prolific in the Philippines? But we used to get them in our house in Manchester. And they set up highways into the house from the front garden. So each year we had to pour boiling water through the hole in the ground from whence they came plus a bit of ant powder to clear up the residual ants. That seemed to sort them out.

They're a lot more prolific than they were in Scotland, I never had any anywhere near a house in Scotland :)

    I wonder why? LOL.
However I bet you had a fair few midges?

Nah never had midges where I lived, you have to be near still or slow water to have the midges be a really bad problem, although I could occasionally pass through a mild swarm on the way to my local pub, but they were nothing like as bad as the ones a bit further west like those on Arran.

Ants, I could see them in the garden but nothing made it's way into the house, I only ever had one detached house, rest of my life has been in apartments i.e. Tenements or flats, or our place in the Phils which in our UK terms would be described as terraced.

My ex wife and I came across them around Loch Rannoch, where we went camping.

West coast of scotchland staying next to lake Awe near Oban. Midges, thousands of em.

Not sure where the ants are coming from here to be honest. Its not like theres many, but leave some out for a little bit or not wrapped up properly and they seem to appear out of thin air!! Maybe they're magic ants

Wondered if that would get a bite!:p
Nice pics by the way. We stayed in a log cabin in a village called Dalivich or something similar on the west side of LAKE Awe. What a crap place. Sometimes the internet lies you know! The place described and photographed beared little resemblance to what we stayed in. I was ready to go home (8 hour drive) after 3 days! The surrounding areas where very pretty though. Best gravalax we tasted was at Skipness

curry powder, lemon and many other scents ants don't like. Just keeping something it doesn't like next to something it does like reduces the ant interest. Meeting them head on for wiping out is an ongoing battle but also there are many tasks ants help with around the garden.

Were there ants already when you first moved in? You have to regularly spray the affected area with Baygon and make sure that there are not bits and pieces of food lying around. Always wipe your counters and keep it food free.

Tupperwear wise, they are sometimes smart and get through it. I suggest Biokips or Lock & Lock.
