Hello to all! Hope you can help me and can find answers here. I am a nurse and back in college, I had this PTB minimal diagnosis on my chest xray. I undergone medications however a scar or calcification was left which is obvious everytime I had pre-employment medical examination. My friend in the UK working in a nursing home advised me that they are looking for more nurses in their company. I am excited as this is my dream, however, this condition worries me that I may not be able to pass immigration so will just waste my time, money and my confidence. May I know if this is a problem for medical professionals seeking employment in the UK? Thank you. Angel Grace
Best thing to do is go and have a TB scan at an approved centre and see what they say. See link https://www.gov.uk/tb-test-visa/countries-where-you-need-a-tb-test-to-enter-the-uk
I think the only way to set an appointment there is when you already have a working visa from you prospective employer. If this won't work then I will not go through the hassle of taking the required exams.
That will be helpful. In that case I won't worry about this before spending anything for my application. Thank you Mattecube.
Your welcome Go to have the TB test and see what happens and they advise should you not pass. Good luck
my fiancee failed her TB test in april 2015..in connection with her settlement visa application. that was before the fee had been paid. she was successfully treated over the next six months, and applied for the visa in december 2015. she got it ok. i do not know if you need a tb test for a work visa--but i would think you do. i hope it all works out for you. the UK needs filipina nurses !
If it helps my Wife had something show up on her TB X-ray but as it was not TB related her spouse visa was granted. Not sure what standards a potential employer would require but you must have a good chance of being accepted as nurses are in short supply.
I hope the same applies for working visa Bigmac. Thank you for info. If I pass, i am planning to migrate there with my family.
Hello Sir, Thank you for sharing this to me. I do hope everything will be fine. I am now reviewing for my English exam but hesitant to finish it because of this.
