Colourful, clean, respectful, intriguing. When in Thailand do as the locals do and you cant go wrong,a smile went a long way!
The hotels we stayed in, one for one night transit and meet up hotel close to the airport and the main hotel next to Kata night market and Kata beach less than a half a mile away, clean, modern and good value for money. Staff polite, friendly and efficient, food varied and fresh the fish and curry dishes were fantastic, we tried to eat mainly in places that were busyish and looked like locals were in. The beaches very clean and the water warm, we tried different beaches on mainland all good. Plenty to see and get into the culture weather it be the temples the old town or various other tourist spots and all very clean and respectful. I think one of the big differences it all felt less intrusive than the Philippines and not so pressurised to do, felt the trips we went on offered good value for money and timings were good. Tuk Tuks good fun and cheap. Would we go back? in a heartbeat, I would ideally like to get out into the villages more and get even more into the ways of life.
We all enjoyed it and thinking of Bali next winter,
Kuala Lumper was different again but in many ways the same

I agree with everything you said,Bali was great the last time I was there, there’s an incredible hotel in the jungle with an infinity pool looking down on the forest canopy that I would love to visit with my lady,so many places so little time.
