    Hello everyone!
I just wanna ask some question about marriage contract but before that the situation is like this ... I already applied a spouse visa application last nov. 11,2014 I submit a original mc nso copy with red ribbon in the visa center and then recently I got my original documents and finally they grant my visa but my mc they don't send me back again..... I have only one copy of nso wd red ribbon but I have a original copy of mc from the registrar... My question are :
    1. It is ok that my mc nso wd red ribbon they will not send me back?
2.when we are in uk and if we applying a citizenship it is ok that my mc is not nso copy and not ribbon?
    3. It is acceptable if I use a mc copy from the local registrar ?

I hope anyone can help me because I don't have time enough to get a copy from nso because I'm leaving in the Philippines next day .... Thank you

Hello Zoe. Firstly, having documents 'red-ribboned' is not necessary in the visa application. UKVI won't send back original documents to applicants who haven't provided duplicates/photocopies. The NSO authenticated marriage certificate is a very important document you should have with you.

You can apply on the e-census website (http://www.ecensus.com.ph/) when you are in the UK to get a copy of your marriage certificate and/or birth certificate but they charge 20 US dollars to send it by post (takes 6-8 weeks) That is a in addition to the charge for the certificate itself.

I suggest ordering a few copies of your marriage certificate and birth certificate once you are in the UK and keep them in a safe place - that is in a fireproof safe and, if you live in a flood-risk area, make sure they are protected from floods too.

You can no longer lodge your marriage certificate with the UK authorities so it is essential you keep copies yourself!!

Takes only a few minutes getting a Security Paper copy of Marriage contract, i hope you go out of your way for this, as this is a very important document that you should have with you, and yes, get at least 3 or more copies, just pay extra, rather than pay more applying online.

I was gonna say, she can get copies at any NSO branch and get it on the same day if she goes really early in the morning

What is the significance of the ribboned documents? I know the wife has about three which relate to her annulment I think, not sure.

Well, it's the authentication of the Department of Foreign Affairs in the Philippines. They put holes in all document you submit and put a red ribbon in it, hence the term red ribbon.

Also heard that it's a requirement in going to the Middle East and US.

Thanks for the explanation Anne :), I assume the red ribboned documents are as official as you can get.
