It is sadly true that some women in the Philippines trawl internet dating sites with the intention of scamming gullible foreigners. Common sense suggests that a lady posting from an IP address in, say, Angeles City, might be interested in cash rather than in forming a serious relationship.
Unfortunately though, common sense isn't common. Chat on the internet by all means but do not part with your hard earned cash, PM me if you want to give money away, at least your money will stay in the country LOL. Better if you can find a Filipina who is self supporting like mine, I have never given her a penny in 7 years although I lent her quite a large sum which I got back in full at the agreed time. Having said that I must have forked out 60k or so on visiting her over the years and I'm paying for the fiancée visa and everything connected with it. Filipina lovers should get over to the Philippines and meet them in person, internet dating should be avoided although I am sure there are many success stories here amongst the bad ones. If I was specifically looking for a Filipina I would without any question connect with one living in the Middle East as you will find the more educated and self sufficient ones there in one place.

LOL Funny you should mention about the scrabble, I'm presently 7-2 down with the missus and to be perfectly honest it peeves me a bit as I feel that losing is intruding on my Englishness and I should be winning (she would love to read this). And its starting to bug me when she tries to help me. I'm very good at making the words but I'm not very good at making words with a high score. Last time I played the mother joined in and beat me, they even took a picture of the score sheet, is that cheek I ask myself. The ex sister in law sounds interesting although I will have to pass due to her high calibre scrabble playing but there may be other members here with a love for God and scrabble. Sounds a very bright girl.
Just checked her FB page and lo and behold she is "in a relationship" again...which, knowing her, will be another disaster... I've known her since she was 16 and her taste in men is absolutely ghastly!
She tends to end up "holding the baby"! Literally! No. 1 got her in the club when she was due to go to university, they then split up and she had quite a long spell singing in a band in various places including Malaysia and Japan at which point no.2 appeared and the same thing happened... Edited to add - actually her elderly mother ended up holding both babies, which is why her ex-brother in law, long since divorced from her elder sister, is paying for her daughter to go to teacher training college....
I never had to "hide my wallet" when I met my wife. That is a generalisation Dave_E. and something that could give the wrong impression to men looking to meet a Filipina. Best to be cautious but not paranoid and stingy. I did have an uncle of my wife who withheld money I sent to her when we first met, though. That was the only hiccup regarding money meeting then marrying my wife.
I found my Filipina GF on a online dating site last november. She is working full time in HK and after 3 months of chatting. she invited me HK for CNY. and she booked the hotel and everything. last week i was in HK for the CNY and we both spend our time together and got to know each other also i met her mother who is working in HK. and now we both will be going to PI in May to visit her father and grandparents.

If your relationship gets serious and you are thinking of bringing her here to the UK you will need proof that you have met in person amongst a lot of other things. It will be a good idea to start keeping receipts, pictures and chat logs. For future reference all that is required for a successful visa application can be found within this forum.
Yes we were talking about getting married in Dec in HK as i can see its way easy then PI. I did keep the pics of me meeting her n her mother last week. E-Tickets and Hotel bookings. Next will be in May we both will be going to PI. Everything is going good so far. Im Happy
