HI I am new to this forum and would like some help and advice. My partner is from the Philippines and currently working on a cruise ship, but goes home in October. we would like to start the process of him applying for visa. He has been told he can fall in line at the embassy? is this correct or does he require to set up an appointment?
I am from UK (Scotland) He is from Philippines. He would be looking to go to the Embassy in Manila. We are looking for a Visa that we can marry in UK and for him to then apply to stay in UK.
He would need to apply for a Fiancee visa from the UK embassy in Manila. Then you can marry in the UK and our husband would then apply to remain in the UK.
hi. it means you will be the sponsor. you need to research the requirements for this-----including your income which needs to be at a certain level. also--you need to be sure your future partner is single--and free to marry.
He has given me a website address in order for me to book an appointment for him, as he currently is on a Cruise Ship working. www.vfs.uk/phil he also said that require to pay through the gov uk worldpay ? Is this correct? Or can anyone tell me if he can just turn up at the embassy when he gets home?
jumil--theres a lot more to it than filling an online form--paying the fee--then turning up at an embassy. you need to do far more research---as the UK passport holder--you will be the sponsor----do you earn at least £18,600 a year--? do you have suitable accommodation ?
There's a lot of preparation needed before you apply for a visa. You need to get a whole lot of documentation together - most of it coming from you as his sponsor. If I recall correctly, you can pay when you submit the application by including payment card details on the form. This isn't something you should do without doing all the correct preparation first, or you will just be chucking away the fee and will get the visa refused.
Jumil, start by taking a look at the link below, this will give you an idea of what is required and so on. Good luck. http://www.british-filipino.com/ind...r-a-partner-spouse-visa-under-new-rules.5740/
big mac - I have done a little research and I earn enough etc to be his sponsor. it is just so confusing. So much to take in.
Just relax and take your time, if you have any questions then just ask, many people here have been through the same process, it is daunting to start with but I assure you that it gets better, especially with a little help from the forum.
thats a good start. theres a lot more to consider---including--have you met each other--? how did you meet---how long ago--? how do you keep in contact with each other..? there is a lot to take in---and give out--but remember this is a major decision in both your lives----with far reaching consequences. theres no hurry--and you need to be thoroughly familiar with the whole process. this is the first step in an expensive journey which will take five years initially. feel free to ask any questions on here---we are all at various stages on the same journey.
We met 4 years ago. We keep in contact e-mail text, phone call, skype. I have also been to visit him once / twice a year on the ship since we met in 2010.
I think it may have been said but you will need to collate all the contact information. Get printouts of your conversations, phone bills as proof, photographs at/on/around the ship, etc. Good luck in the process
