Yep that is the classic introduction page Mike I must admit it is one area that I have little experience in, most of our lighting work back in the 80's was done for Black and White with hot lamps and brolly's, we did not tend to have decent flash heads, even for colour we just shot with the right film for artificial light to get the correct colour balance. I would like to have a play with some good flash heads one day though.
I've seen some nice results on YouTube videos from some of the top pro guys out there using a flash to get really nice results from people under a tree, base jumping, and portraits. A good flash light is one of my must haves, but new toys are having to hit the back burner for the next few months
