What made members decide to move and live in the Philippines?
Did your family in the Uk agree with you moving there?
Did you give up a job or career to move there?
Do you work in the Philippines?
    Any regrets?

My wife wanted to go back to the Ph and I wanted to live there too.
My family don't really care where I live as long as I'm happy.
I retired early because of joint pain (Knees)
I don't work in the Ph.
I don't have any regrets but living here you have to adapt and put up with a lot of lousy workmanship and poor food.

Does the climate ease your joint pain at all?

It did eventually, I remember struggling to get of the plane in Dumaguete but after a few weeks my knees were good, even at 100 Kgs at the time. I get a few twinges in my knee now and again. But the humid warm climate helps.

Used to love taking off from Dumaguete straight over the sea, reminded me a little of Gibraltar in that respect.

We hit a freak storm once coming into Dumaguete airport, the pilot decided to abort the landing as we were skimming the waves he hit the thrust and then we was heading for the mountains he managed to miss the mountains, banked over and landed at Mactan airport (Cebu) That was fun.

The only plane related incidents I can think of from the PI was hitching a ride on one from Bongao-zamboanga in the 1990's and flying from zamboanga-davao the plane was cancelled due to a foetus in the toilet, we were put on a plane to Manila, given a hotel room for the night, flown down to Davao the next day, I still don't see any logic to that whatsoever, easier to put us in a hotel in Zambo and flight to Davao the next morning, but hey, it's more fun in the Philippines I guess o_O
