Apple announced recently its launch of the iTunes Store in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Philippines and eight other countries in Asia, representing an incredible selection of local and international music and movies for all apple users in this region.

Before the launch, people can only buy apps for their iOS devices in Singapore, while users in United State and Britain can also get access to over 20 millions songs as well as some other movies and television shows available in iTunes Store.

Singapore’s local media Straight Times has long been expecting iTunes Store’s issue. A report said that Apple in March had placed “an update to the iTunes software featured a number of new countries placed under its Parental Preferences option” in Asia, which is usually “introduced in markets where Apple sells music and movie content through iTunes”.

Last week, another sign of the possibility for iTunes Store’s launch here went to the pricing change from U.S. dollars to Singapore dollars in Singapore iTunes Store.

According to the company’s press release, the other nine countries which will benefit from the iTunes Store include Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

China, one of apple’s most important market in the region as well as the world, has not been a member of the list this time.

Never using Itunes again if I can help it!! Appalling customer service, plus I am not such a fan any more of Apple since my years old Ipod had a fault that degraded music files, causing scratchy like sounds caused by some lack of support for Windows Vista (at the time). Apple, if I recall used to blame Microsoft Windows for the fault, Microsoft in turn said it was an Apple problem and so referred users to Apple....

Never had a problem using my Android phones. Hate Itunes, hate, hate hate that product:(
