How many millions of pounds every year do we give in aid to India...???

And then they spend money that they need to feed their poor or at least help educate them, by launching expensive satellites, or nuclear research...:erm:

If they have so much disposable tax income available, why do we have to sponsor them the way we do...???:erm:

That's one of my pet moans.
I agree, it just seems crazy to me when you consider the current tranche of cuts at home.

It is pretty hard to reconcile, in effect we are subsidising Indian ambition, ambitions I wish we had as a country.

I suspect their space program is consuming more than we send them in aid.

The argument of course is that there are many poor who would be hurt if we stopped, but the counter argument is that it enables a blind eye approach for the Indian government.

Like a lot of countries they have built a successful economy around the cities but have done little to spread the benefits around impoverished rural area's and like a lot of emerging countries they don't seem to care much.

The Phils is the same it has it pockets of success but we can all see the misery and people being left behind.

In the case of India's poor, well who knows, if we cut off the aid will their government step in to do anything, probably not. :(

Indeed where does the aid we send actually go?

To be fair on India, they are getting free money and what kind of country would say "no thanks, keep your money". But, yeah... We should end this outright!!

They already have their savers have been propping up American and European borrowing for a couple of decades.

Don't think we will ever see any free money from China unless the UK defaults on it's bonds.

Oh dear, don't get me started on China. That's for another thread methinks. But it's correct that China are a major 'stakeholder' in Europe. To be continued.
    Meantime .................
