    This is a better reference

My grandfather would have been born in Ireland sometime around 1870 he died before I was born but lived to a ripe old age.

It did cross my mind that the Act of Union was still in force at that time and therefore the Irish were British but the page I refer too seems to only care about birth in Ireland, I don't think it even has to be birth in Southern Ireland, I need to look into this as I have my grandfathers birth certificate somewhere here in the house.

Just confirmed with my sister that my maternal grandfather and grandmother were both born in Ireland however it was Northern Ireland although at the time of their birth in the 1870's there would not have been a North South border would there?

They would all have been under British rule at that time so maybe maybe not, I really do have to investigate this further.

I take it the EEA question with Irish dual nationals is still not resolved?
