I have had a affidavit form sent from the Philippines embassy in London anyone familiar with filling it in I'm not great with technical jargon cheers
"An affidavit of support for my girlfriend to visit the UK I have to go to London to the Philippines embassy has anyone made this journey and if so do I download the form first and fill in what I can would love help not very technical minded" Welcome Gerry, never done this personally but: Yes. Normally download the form fill in all the details (Do Not Sign it) and then take it to the Embassy to sign and affirm it's you signing it in the presence of the Embassy Official who checks it against your ID .
Does sound a bit strange... why would the Philippines embassy in London be asking for that? Friend visits England - application here: https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor/apply-standard-visitor-visa Philippines Embassy in London ??? Affidavit of support - not a scam is it? Gerry says he'll support and then the Filipino goes and gets a big loan/new motor or something on the strength of it?
It’s a document some use some don’t it’s generated for the Philippines government not the UK but is of similar use to the old SU07 (UK sponsor commitment form) now no longer used! We have done a number of successful visit visas and not used an affidavit yet!
An affidavit of support for my girlfriend to visit the UK I have to go to London to the Philippines embassy has anyone made this journey and if so do I download the form first and fill in what I can would love help not very technical minded" where did you get that quote from JS ? a trip to the philippine embassy is not to be undertaken lightly--it will be a long day you wont forget.
@John Surrey is correct it is suggested that the sponsor completes an affidavit for any tourist visa regardless of relationship if the sponsor is the invitee then he needs to complete. However it is seldom used and we have never used it in a way an invite letter replicates the affidavit. This is not a UK thing but Philippines and is normally used if at all at departing immigration see linkhttps://www.wonder.legal/ph/modele/...MIj-GYtLKvgQMVgdB3Ch0OiA2MEAAYASAAEgIyh_D_BwE I guess if exit immigration thought trafficking or poverty was an issue they would ask for it regardless of visa status
@Gerry T When he joined he asked me in a "conversation" I didn't recognise his name realised he was new and was probably just pushing buttons hoping for an answer... I then found half his question in this thread so I just copied it over for clarification... replied to his conversation that I'd answered here... The plot thickens... reading @Mattecube's link I can see why he's asking for help!!! The other likely scenario is they are very young or maybe well advised: BI have been under quite a lot of recent public pressure here for stopping people (esp. young girls) exiting at the airport because they want to be sure they are not being trafficked - to prevent that scenario Gerry's friend could have been advised to get the affidavit.
