I thought it would be a good idea for members here to pass on anything they feel could inspire others. It could be movies, TV shows, music, books, audiobooks, hobbies, wine/beer......anything that interests us really. Perhaps we could not mention *spoilers* - anything that known beforehand could spoil the enjoyment for others later on. It would be nice for a very brief description after the "idea" for a little context. ************************************************************************************************ I will start it off by recommending both TV series "Narcos" and "Narcos Mexico". There are three series in each and I recommend starting with "Narcos" first. All episodes are fast-paced, exciting and the plots are first class, as well as wonderful acting. There is mostly adult themes with violence so not good for children or the squeamish.

I remember reading "Slaughterhouse five" in the original German language, (Schlachthof Funf), and also watching the movie. Anything at all by Wilbur Smith and Tom Clancy. I used to be an avid reader of books, I still have my library card somewhere. Nowadays I only read the news, preferably online from a decent siza monitor. My eyesight ain't what it used to be anymore...
My wife didn't want to watch it, Druk1; she seems to be more interested in cooking these days. I finished it and enjoyed it but not as much as you, unfortunately. Jared Leto playing Paolo was quite a feat, make-up wise:

I only know of Jared Leto for his brilliant part as Nemo in Mr Nobody which was a fantastic top end Sci-Fi movie where he played a character in multiple entangled Universes, a masterpiece. edit: I suppose I've actually posted something relevant to the thread, I found Mr Nobody to be a very inspirational film.
The Revenant (2015) *more than five years ago * was the best movie I have seen for many years. I saw it on the computer but had to see it at the cinema also. It was the first movie that I had seen at the cinema without the wife or kids. Plot, camera work, acting and soundtrack were all first class. I would go to the cinema to see it again. FromWiki: It won three Golden Globe Awards and five BAFTA Awards, including Best Film at both shows. For the 88th Academy Awards, the film received 12 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor (Hardy). The Revenant won the Academy Awards for Best Director (Iñárritu, his second consecutive in that category), Best Actor (DiCaprio, his first after 5 previous nominations), and Best Cinematography (Emmanuel Lubezki, his third consecutive in that category). DiCaprio also won the Golden Globe Award, the Screen Actors Guild Award, the BAFTA Award, and the Critics' Choice Award for Best Actor for his work in the film.
The Revenant I eagerly anticipated as I have been to calgary where it was filmed, and I had read a book on Hugh glass upon whom the film was loosely based I enjoyed it, few minor niggles like an untanned wet grizzly skin can weigh over 100lbs,yet Leo wore it around his shoulders effortlessly but yes, good movie
Not far from where I live there is "the tanning pit". It is a small pond now but in the past it was filled with urine, which I believe was a way to get the hair out of hides. Over a hundred or more years ago, weren't people employed to carry the urine out of towns and cities for this purpose? I think these pits were out of town because of the smell
Yes the ammonia in ihi was used in tanning, but I think in the revenant days out in the wilderness they defleshed and shaved skins right down and used the old Indian brain tanning and smoking methods, have you ever been to a tannery in Morocco or India? Reeks to high heaven
