Hi hope everyone is doing well.
Just two questions about spouse and dependent visa. Me and the wife are in the process of doing the application but we are a little confused with the dependent part. We’ve done spouse visa and read that you ignore the no dependents message.
How is spouse and dependent visa’s linked?
And when we went to pay for ihs for dependent it was free, this has got to be a mistake.
Has anyone else had this issue with dependent visa? the gov.uk website is not clear on the details so any information is greatly appreciated.

Need more information to answer the question.

Specifically what are spouse circumstances, is she here in UK, in Philippines, got ILR etc.

Are you applying for spouse and dependant visa or dependant only?

Depending on spouse situation may or may not have to pay IHS fee. Going back a few years situation was that for dependant the IHS fee wasn't asked for when applying as system could not work out if it was required. After application they then sent out a request for it to be paid with instructions on how to pay.

One scenario where it isn't required us where the child will qualify for indefinite leave to enter - this is where spouse has ILR so child qualifies for ILR (or more correctly ILE) when visa granted.

    Hi thanks for your reply

Applying from ph and applying for spouse and dependent.
It did say exempt because lead applicant under 18 for the dependent but was unsure as I don’t want it to be refused because we didn’t pay.

does the two applications need to be linked ? If so how/ where
    Thanks

Im assuming the child isn't yours and is a step child. If child is yours and you are british thrn should be looking at getting british passport.

Going back to 2018 when we applied I think there was the ability to link the applications but system has changed since then.

I know when we applied they didnt require an IHS charge at the time of application and then afterwards got an email with details on how to pay the charge so expect will go the same way now. Make sure to check on spam in case ends up in there.

Another question is whether there is a father named on the birth certificate and if so what has happened to him. Need to make sure in application in the later scenario that you have addressed sole responsibility.
