    Flying from your departure city
    [IMG]
    Take a pre-departure Covid-19 PCR test
    Travellers, including Singapore citizens and permanent residents, transiting through Singapore will be required to take a pre-departure Covid-19 PCR test within 48 hours of the scheduled departure date of their flight.

    The test must be taken at a recognised or accredited clinic, laboratory or medical facility. Please note that self-administered PCR tests will not be accepted for entry or transit through Singapore. For a smoother check-in process, you should check if the clinic is able to provide a test certificate with a corresponding QR code. This QR code should link to your digital pre-departure test certificate.

    Prepare your vaccination certificate

    Transit passengers travelling on Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) flights after 19 October 2021 will need a digitally verifiable vaccination certificate.

    Here are the Singapore Transit requirements.

    Thanks for the reply. Really hard to undertake travel when even in transit a pre departure test is needed for a country you won't even be visiting. So much for VTL corridors helping...

    If anyone is thinking of Travelling make up your minds soon, whilst Travel is still available

    Both very valid points, I would suggest with the rising cases in the Uk anyone thinking of going to the Philippines do so while Travel is still being allowed, Yes its costly and Covid requirements are a pain in the Butt but its either bite the bullet and go while the going is good, or it might not be long before Travel is banned again.

    Hi. Thanks. I know all the requirements to enter the Philippines. My question is do I need a PCR test to transit in Hong Kong. My flight is London - Hong Kong (8 hours wait) then onto Manila.

    As you are in transit only, you should not require one unless you pass immigration control in HK

    Hi. Yes, NHS digital certificate is OK.

    I can't advise on the covid test for Mactan. But for Manila, authorities book your test on day 5 in your hotel. I've always paid when I get to the airport but that may have changed now.

    I've been to see the Philippines lots if times during the pandemic.

    Transiting through Hong Kong

    Transit requirements
    Passengers will be able to transit through Hong Kong if:

    • Their itinerary is contained in a single booking;
    • They meet the entry requirements of their final destination;
    • They have their baggage checked through to the final destination;
    • They have been issued their onward boarding pass(es) from their origin; and
    • The connection time between flights is within 24 hours.

    Are the airlines trying to recoup the money they lost in the pandemic?

    Many of them like Air France and KLM got vast amounts of government support to stop them going bust, I don't think they have any choice but to adjust their business in order to be profitable again, that will be a combination of slashing routes cutting fleets and increasing prices.

    By downsizing by having to downsize they are making flights scarce which will mean that in turn the price goes up.

    The costs of flights are outrageous and the four of us in my family may not see the Philippines for many years.

    Yeah Mike, there are some flights that are cheaper but the general trend is going to be up I think, and I don't think it is ever going to get better to be honest.

    I agree, flight costs are just crazy now. Had to pay 1'200 pounds for economy! I used to pay that for business class pre-pandemic.
