If I have Multiple Passports

    Hi,
I used to work at sea, so I always needed 2 British passports in case one had to be sent away for a work visa. I am also an Australian dual citizen, so in total I have 3 active passports right now.

My question is: do I have to provide certified copies of all 3 passports? My wife is going to apply for her first 'Family of a Settled Person' visa and she is applying from outside of the UK (from the Philippines).

I used to have 2 passports. I only ever needed to present one of them at any one time. :D

The VAF4A application does ask if the applicant's sponsor holds any other nationality but I have not seen anything in the supporting document requirements that a dual national would have to provide anything other than a British passport. The passport of a British sponsor is only required to prove they have right of abode in the UK. You can just include a photocopy of the bio pages; they don't have to be certified copies.

I would provide details/copy pages of the most current British Passport and give details of the other two on the additional information pages, at least then there can be no comebacks. At some stage the UKVI agency could run a passport check and see you have three, you do not want them to think you have something to hide either resulting in your visa being held up or at worst declined.

I used to have two passports, the secretary where I worked was better at writing my signature than me, I'm surprised nobody checked when she was applying for visas for me in my absence.

There is a question on the application form about dual nationality, but it says nothing about providing proof of that nationality. BUt I agree Timmers, it seems sensible to provide copies of those passports.

I believe that providing evidence of the passports that you are showing the UKVI that you have nothing to hide.

Thanks for the replies. Today I made colour copies of the main Passport ID page of all 3 passports and also I got both the British ones certified at the Post Office. Post Office certification (plus Post Office stamp) is valid, right?

When I submitted copies of my mother's UK passport, I had it notarised/certified twice. First by a notary public, and second through my lawyer in the UK.

Might be excessive to do it twice, but maybe if you just have it notarised then that will be better instead of certification from the Post Office.

They're really strict with applications coming from the Philippines.
